Saw mill owners concerned
A delegation including Wolf-Georg Fehrensen of the federal association "Deutsche Säge- und Holzindustrie" talks to the secretary of agriculture Christian Meyer. According to the European Union, 10% of the public forests have to be preserved for biodiversity. The delegation presents a well-considered suggestion to avoid long delivery ways that would lead to more pollution through transport.
Solar power plant extended
On 31st March 2010 Fehrensen put the second step of the solar power plant into operation. 850 kW of the planed 1200 kW are now connected to the power grid. Together with three heat plants, the company now produces more than 95% of it's power demand by itself.
The produced energy amount would be sufficient to supply two times the heat energy for Hedemünden needed and half of the district with energy. This equals a reduction of CO2 emission of more than 7000t a year.
